the loneliness and disappointment

I’ve always left the lights open

in case you come back.
five years of waiting
and i should have known

there are returns
that you anticipate for
and returns which you can only whisper
to the walls
to the wind
or to the moments
written on the leaves
and pouring rain

and you can not weep
for the things long gone
yet its memories you chose to keep

you can only sigh
and let all this aching
echo
like how a lone leaf
whirls down
towards the lagoon
where waterfalls decide to die and break

so love, do not whine
about the heaviness
of his absence
and the repetition
thereof

do not grieve
for the coldness
you said you would embrace.

do not weep,
do not weep.
